Boutique Wineries in South America
Wineries in Peru
In Peru, visit the Grimaldi Winery. This is the oldest and most traditional winery in the Ica region south of Lima. The Grimaldi Winery has over 100 years of experience and is one of the most recognized wine brands in Peru. After the Grimaldi winery, visit Tabernero winery, located in the same region. This is the largest and most well known Peruvian winery. Finish your Ica region wine tour at Vinas de Oro, recognized for their high-quality piscos. If you want to spend a few days exploring the Ica region, Hotel Viñas Queirolo is a great hotel.
Wineries in Ecuador
Ecuador is known more for its wildlife than its wineries, but Chaupi Estancia Winery is a wonderful winery worth seeing that is right outside of Quito. Go on a day trip through the winery with an in-house wine expert where you will learn about the production and process for making wine. After the tour, enjoy a delicious wine tasting. For an authentic Ecuadorian experience, indulge in Ecuadorian food paired with the local wines.
Wineries in Argentina
No South America Wine tour would be complete without visiting Mendoza, the mecca for wine lovers. Sip the best Malbec’s while taking in beautiful views of the Andes Mountain range. Mendoza has plenty of different wineries to choose from, along with daily activities that include horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, and more. Visit Lujan de Cuyo, home to some of the country’s best wines. For accommodations, consider staying at the Cavas Wine Lodge.
Wineries in Uruguay
Uruguay has come into its own and has several wells know wineries and its very own wine road. The town of Carmelo has several well-known wineries including Bodega Zubizarreta, where the first vines were planted. Just outside of town you will find Cordano, Narbona, and El Legado all of which are great wineries and worth visiting, each with their own distinct flavors and tastes. Enjoy tastings at each winery.
Wineries in Chile
Chile is a well-known destination for wine tasting, specifically the Colchagua River Valley and the Aconcagua Valley. Here you will have some of the best wine experiences in the world paired with incredible food. Chile is best known for its Sauvignon Blanc wines in the Santiago wine region. In this region, there are world-class wineries such as Concha y Toro along with boutique wine villas. Depending on how many days you want to spend in Chile, you can visit as many different wineries as you’d like.
