Money, Budgeting & Tipping
The Galapagos Islands are part of Ecuador and Ecuador is using the US-Dollar. The Ecuadorean mainland is quite inexpensive. Onboard the cruise ships, however, everything had to be brought from the mainland to the island to the ship. Therefore expect to pay for everything as much as you would on a cruise any other place in the world, maybe a bit less. Tipping nowadays is up to US standards.
