Bogotá is the capital of Colombia, its cultural, administrative and political centre, located at an altitude of 2600m above sea level, along the central chain of the Andes mountains. This urban centre pulsates with a combination of colonial and modern styles, wealth and poverty; luxury, and downright squalor.
Villa de Leyva it is as if time has stood still here in this small colonial town of cobbled streets and wooden balconies. Here, between the 6th and 14th centuries AD, a mysterious culture grew and flourished, leaving its mark in a number of tombs, burial chambers and large sculptures of carved stone.
