Once you arrive at the airport in Bogota, your guide will welcome you and will take you to Armenia, the capital of QuindΓo, one of the major coffee-growing regions in Colombia. Take a tour of this city and then visit the coffee plantations in the surrounding area. Check into a charming coffee-growing hacienda in Armenia, where you can enjoy homecooked meals, all included in your stay.
Wake up to the smell and delicious taste of freshly-brewed coffee and enjoy a hearty breakfast at the hacienda. Then head out on a tour of the farm, including a lesson on how coffee beans are farmed, dried, and transformed into world-famous Colombian coffee.
The next stop is the Botanical Gardens, where there are beautiful flowers, 200-year old trees, over 600 species of plants, 70 species of birds, an insect zoo, and a balcony where you can view the gardens from the treetops. Continue on to the butterfly garden, filled with 1500 butterflies of 50 species.
After breakfast at the hacienda, join your guide for a full day tour of the picturesque coffee plantations and towns of Genova, Pijao, Cordoba and Rio Verde. You’ll have the chance to take photos, explore the towns on foot, and enjoy some coffee tastings at local plantations. A lunch at a typical restaurant is included. In the late afternoon, return to the hotel and enjoy a free evening, relaxing and watching the sunset.
Today you can enjoy an excursion to Filandia, a traditional village with colonial era streets and architecture. Filandia is known for its tasty liquor, so you’ll have the chance to try some. Then continue on the tour to the Cocora Valley, a verdant forest with wax palms, the official Colombian national tree and one of the tallest species of palm in the world. Explore the valley and take time for pictures, then stop for lunch.
In the afternoon, you can choose to relax, go for a guided hike, or try horseback riding through the valley. On the way back to the hacienda, stop in Salento, another important village in the coffee-growing region. The town is known for its artisanal crafts shops, so you can walk around and browse the shops.
After breakfast and a final cup of freshly-brewed Colombian coffee, transfer to the airport for the flight to BogotΓ‘ and catch your connecting flight home or to your next destination in South America.
