The company delivered pretty much everything they promised in the itinerary. Would not hesitate to recommend their services.
However, just a couple of points. We had several group tours within our package which were with an English speaking guide. Most were very good with the exception of our tour of Torres del Paine. The guide had limited English at best and most of the time ignored us (we were the only English couple on the bus). At one point during the tour, she talked in Spanish for at least 15 minutes to the group and then turned to us and said: "the lake is 20 meters deep". Period...end of explanation.
For the most part, the hotels were what we expected except for Buenos Aires. We stayed in the Hotel Cyan Americas Towers and it was without a doubt the dirtiest hotel we have ever been in. The location was excellent but our room was a disaster. The floor and walls were covered in grime.
SouthAmerica.travel put together a 35-day package for us and everything from pickups, tours, transportation etc. went very smoothly. with one exception. We took the bus from Mendoza to Santiago and were supposed to be met at the bus depot for transport to our hotel. This might have worked had the bus actually arrived at the bus depot. The reality was the bus stopped 3 blocks short of the depot due to traffic and everyone was kicked off. After we found our way to the depot we walked through that place 3 different times looking for someone holding out a name sign. Also, there are at least 8 exits from the depot to the streets and never saw a single name sign. So we ended up taking a taxi to the hotel. Not a big deal but certainly frustrating at the time. For this type of pickup to work, you need to have a specific meeting place.
We are very pleased with SouthAmerica.travel and would not hesitate to use them again.
