Bolivia’s wines are centered in the foothills of the Andes, in Tarija just north of Argentina. Together with delicious Bolivian cuisine, which is heavily influenced by Andean traditions, Bolivian wine and gourmet tours are an authentic and wonderful experience.
Bolivia wine tours typically include the northern part of Argentina as well, where in the town of Cafayate you can taste Torrontes wines. Both areas share a mild, almost Mediterranean climate due to the their altitude of roughly 2000 m (6000 ft).
Tarija, as a matter of fact, had fought it’s own independence war against Spain and then had the option to join Argentina. However decided then to join Bolivia instead. Wineries in Bolivia are mostly small, but big enough to export to neighboring countries, where standards are high when it comes to wines.
