Tours in Rio de Janeiro

New Tours in Rio de Janeiro

SouthAmerica.travel is excited to recommend two tours in Rio de Janeiro that were very popular among our clients during last year. That is why they are great addition to standard Rio tours like Sugar Loaf and Corcovado. If you spend some more days in the city we would like you to take: Carioca Charisma tour and Zest – tour of culinary Brazil.Β

Carioca Charisma: Colonial Rio & The Historic Port – Tours in Rio de Janeiro

Our first recommended tour in Rio de Janeiro is the Colonial Rio & Historic Port Walking Tour. Its almost like travelling back in time as you pass by century-old buildings and monuments through the colonial heart of Rio. After that you are approaching more modern part with the Museum of Tomorrow. This tour represents old and new of Brazil.Β

What you will see:

You will start your tour close to Rio’s Opera House in Cinelandia. Built in the 20th Century, Teatro Municipal is considered one of the most beautiful theaters in Brazil. Its Parisian-style architecture was inspired by Charles Garnier’s visional masterpiece: the Palais Garnier.Β

Continue to the Museu Nacional de Belas Artes (National Museum of Fine Arts), inaugurated in 1938. The museum is home to over 20,000 pieces of art and is the perfect display of Brazilian culture. Later continue to Biblioteca Nacional, the 7th largest library in the world. Β

Next, you will visit the Paço Imperial, the Palace of the Viceroys.  Enjoy a coffee and admire the baroque architecture of the colonial palace.   Tours in Rio de Janeiro - museum of tomorrow

After exploring colonial Rio, take a ride on Rio’s new light rail tram to the historic waterfront and the Museum of Tomorrow. The museum was designed to promote forward thinking in a sustainable world.Β

To conclude your tour, enjoy the magical views of the β€œorgan pipe” mountains across the bay from the Mosteiro de SΓ£o Bento.
