Tours of Iguazu Falls are a must for travelers interested in adventure or luxury. Surrounded by subtropical jungle, Iguazu Falls was announced as one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature in 2011. On an Iguazu Falls trip, explore the Brazilian side (from Foz do Igauçu), best known for its panoramic view of the falls, or hike the Argentine side (from Puerto Iguazu) all the way up to see the Devil’s Throat, also known as Garganta del Diablo. Enjoy a vastly different view from both sides of Iguazu Falls, which is possible whether on a trip to Argentina or on a tour of Brazil. Tours to Iguazu Falls are unforgettable and can include day excursions to the bird park and local villages. The “Gran Adventura” motorboat ride is highly recommended, traveling upriver to the base of the falls. The Best Time to Visit Iguazu Falls

Iguazu Falls can be visited any time of year, from both the Argentine or Brazilian side of the falls, however during the hottest times of the year, generally December to February, the falls can get very humid following rainy weather. It is also advisable to avoid the South American vacation times, in particular Easter’s Holy Week, as well as the Summer holiday season from Christmas through February, as well as Carnival. Besides that, Iguazu Falls travel is always possible!

When is the best time to visit Iguazu Falls?

The best time to visit the Iguazu Falls is any time of the year! Brazil’s weather remains warm throughout the year, though some months are warmer than others and some have more water over the falls. But really it is best to consider other places in your itinerary first and focus on the best time for them. December to March is the wetter and warmer time of year and is the southern hemisphere’s summer. This means high temperatures and humid weather with plenty of water going over the falls. In the southern winter, temperatures are a bit lower but still hot and there is less rain, but still some – so the falls always have plenty of water to admire.

How much does it cost to go to the Iguazu Falls?

The Iguazu Falls are not an expensive destination to visit. There are two National Parks at the Iguazu Falls, one of the Brazilian side and one on the Argentine side. Both have entrance fees, and these amounts change from time to time but are modest amounts. Usually, getting to and from the falls involves a flight, often from Rio de Janeiro or Buenos Aires, so budget for this in addition to accommodation, meals and tour costs.

Do you need a tour guide for Iguazu Falls?

A guide is not compulsory and it is very safe to visit the Brazilian and Argentine sides of the falls. If you are staying at one of the hotels adjacent to the falls – the Belmond Das Cataratas on the Brazilian side or the Melia on the Argentine side, you might be happy to explore on your own. If staying further from the falls, in the towns of Puerto Iguazu or Foz do Iguassu, a guided tour is worthwhile to get you to and from the falls as well as to make the most of your time and learn some interesting facts about the falls themselves and the impressive flora and fauna of the area.

Can you visit Iguazu Falls in one day?

Yes, it is possible. It is well worth visiting both the Argentina and Brazilian sides of the falls and this can be done in a full day, but it is rushed. We recommend spending 2 nights at the falls to give time to see both sides without rushing. This might sound like a long time to spend at a waterfall but there is plenty to see and do, the national parks are interesting and there are plenty of trails to follow through the lush forest and boat trips are possible too. You may be interested in visiting the Itaipu Dam and Iguazu Bird Park too.
